The C-MobILE consortium was invited to take part in the C-ITS deployment and evaluation workshop on 5-6 November, an event convened by the C-Roads Platform Working Group 1 “C-ITS Organisation” and Working Group 3 “Evaluation & Assessment” together with the EU EIP C-ITS Deployment support.

With C-ITS deployment  underway in Europe, this workshop brought together experts to share knowledge, issues and solutions on key topics related to C-ITS deployment and evaluation. Aside from C-ITS technical specifications proper, the workshop addressed organizational and governance issues, as well as evaluation approaches and results, and any other open issues reported by the C-ITS pilot cities.

In this context, Thomas Desseilles and Giacomo Somma from ERTICO presented the C-ITS ecosystem and deployment business models developed in the framework of the C-MobILE project, together with Evangelos Mitsakis from CERTH and Jos van Vlerken from the City of Copenhagen. C-MobILE (Accelerating C-ITS Mobility Innovation and depLoyment in Europe) is deploying cooperative intelligent transport systems (C-ITS) and services designed to deal with specific mobility challenges across Europe. The project also aims to help local authorities deploy the C-ITS services they need and to raise awareness of the potential benefits for all road users. Key points covered:

–  A service-dominant, user-centric business modelling and a framework approach to support market deployment of C-ITS services;

– Operational aspects of service bundling, traffic management integration, and preliminary cost-benefit results;

– Evaluation and assessment aspects, with specific regard to user ex-ante acceptability and ex-post acceptance.
